Confidence strong for Bangkok’s 10th International Festival of Dance & Music
Dusit Thani Bangkok & Dusit International selected as an Official Hospitality Partner
and it's business as usual
The current political stand-off in Thailand has not dampened the spirits of more than 1,200 artists from eleven countries gathering for Bangkok's 10th International Festival of Dance & Music scheduled from 15 September to 13 October. The stars and artists will be staying at Dusit Thani Bangkok, the official host hotel for this glittering event because of its reputation as the home to the stars when in the City of Angels. In June it was also the Official Hotel for the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) - the annual event for Bollywood 's leading film industry icons.
J.S. Uberoi, Chairman of International Cultural Promotions Ltd., said “This festival has in the decade of its existence put Bangkok on the cultural map of the world as a significant player and is rated as one of Asia's leading cultural showcases bringing the best from around the globe to Thailand for a month-long cultural extravaganza. Companies from the United States of America, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, Australia, Argentina, Germany, Russia, Korea, India and of course Thailand are all determined to perform in Thailand for the festival underlining their belief that in Thailand business is as usual despite the political turmoil.
From 15 September onwards companies that will perform in Bangkok include: Paul Taylor Dance Company from New York, Russian Symphony Orchestra, Russian Bashkir State Opera & Ballet Theatre, Zurich Ballet, Introdans from The Netherlands, National Theatre of Korea, Lua Hadar and Twist Band from San Francisco, James Morrison and Group from Australia, Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras from Spain, Madhavi Mudgal and company from India (presenting Sankriti –Classical dances of India), G-strings from Germany, B Connected Jazz Band from Switzerland and Inaki Urlezaga Group from Argentina.
Octavio Gamarra, Senior Vice President, Dusit International, added “We are delighted to be the official hospitality partner for the prestigious 10th International Festival of Dance & Music event in Bangkok this year. Our flagship hotel, Dusit Thani Bangkok, has been preparing to welcome the artists to ensure that we deliver not only the highest standards of service and comfort but also a unique experience at one of Thailand's leading hotels. In regard to the political situation affecting the confidence of visitors, this grand event and participation by all the international groups will be a reflection of the fact that despite domestic politics, it is business as usual in Bangkok. At the same time we must remember that Travel + Leisure magazine’s readers have voted Bangkok as the World’s Best City in July this year. Rather than sitting back and allowing our industry to suffer we need to spread the word that Thailand is still the world's best holiday destination, just as we see the business traveller still doing business here in the corporate world.”
